Transformation of Art into Architecture

Transformation of Art into Architecture

This is a proposition for a new design school for Swinburne University of Technology, Prahran Campus. It intends to design an ideal learning place that encourages interaction and generation of ideas. In order to achieve this, the new building is designed with heaps of openings to open space which allows a multitude of imagination to flow and to play its role as the source of inspiration to students. The proposal provides ideas about what a studio is and how Anselm Kiefer’s design, as the subject of my study, has inspired my perspective about studios, design and space.

Building that comes in layer is inspired from the idea of stacked books, which show as a symbolizes knowledge and learning process, as quoted from Anselm Kiefer

“ The book, the idea of a book or the image of a book, is a symbol of learning of transmitting knowledge… I make my own books to find my way through the old stories.”

- Anselm Kiefer -

All the building layouts are planned and designed to blend in with the existing landscape. Through this design concept, the intend to influence the user to appreciate and preserve the nature.
